World-Renowned Peace Expert to Visit Kingston for Remembrance Day Centenary

Just Announced:

Kingston will host world-renowned peace expert Professor Paul Rogers of Bradford University, UK on November 10, 2018, at events to mark the Centenary of the end of the First World War.

Paul Rogers has worked in the field of international security, arms control and political violence for over 30 years, and has written or edited 26 books, including Global Security and the War on Terror: Elite Power and the Illusion of Control and Why We’re Losing the War on Terror. He is regularly invited by international media to speak about global conflicts regularly, and is a frequent guest on the CBC.

Rogers will be the keynote speaker at a public gathering titled “Imagining Peace,” at the historic Kingston City Hall’s Memorial Room, featuring stained glass battle scenes. And he’ll attend a special concert the following day at the Isabel Bader Centre for the Performing Arts, to mark the 100th anniversary of the Armistice of November 11, 1918. Performers include the Okavango African Orchestra, Open Voices Community Choir, the Kingston Youth Choir, and PeaceSong.

PeaceQuest is a non-profit, non-denominational, and non-partisan organization based in Kingston. It supports and facilitates peace-building initiatives across Canada. It was founded in 2012 to commemorate World War One by organizing events that emphasize peace — a value that, its members believe, Canadians cherish.
