Gathering to present the petition at Saskatchewan Legistlature in early February

For Immediate Release:

Attached is a letter we recently sent to Premier Brad Wall in response to his February 9 2015 letter to us regarding the petition, No Military Training in Saskatchewan High Schools. The Premier’s February 9 letter to us can be read here.

We express in our letter our deep concern about the ten students who have signed up for the military training program?given what has happened to so many of the Canadian soldiers who fought in Afghanistan. We also note that finding the path to peace is the best way to serve one’s country and that war is a disaster for all who experience it. We conclude by urging the Premier to end military training in Saskatchewan high schools.

We continue to hear from members of the public who are extremely upset about the introduction of the military training program in our schools. As a result, we intend to ask the Premier to reconsider. We also intend to follow up with the Regina Catholic School Board and the motion instructing it “to inform the provincial government it does not want a military training program in its high schools.” We will also ask the Premier what he intends to do about that motion.
