Grieving the Tragedy of Terrorism

Terrorism … “the new normal” … can it be so?  Must it be so?

PeaceQuest has, from its inception, grounded its activities in the vision “Grieving the tragedy of war; committed to the promise of peace.”

While definitions of terrorism vary, our understanding is taken from Boaz Ganor (1998) that “Terrorism is the intentional use of, or threat to use violence against civilians or against civilian targets, in order to attain political aims.” (cited by J. Barker in The No-Nonsense Guide to Terrorism.)

Terrorist incidents have taken on a grim familiarity across the globe.  Our collective anguish deepens with every act of injustice that violates any person’s fundamental dignity, let alone their right to live in peace.

The list of such tragic events grows with each day.  Our commitment to work for peace grows with it.   Join us … participate in peace building initiatives in your own communities; where there are none, create them.  Contact PeaceQuest for more information, support and ideas for becoming more involved … wherever you are.
