Mark your calendars. It is now confirmed: The peace flag will be raised at City Hall at 10 am, on September 21, International Peace Day.
Following the flag-raising, there will be a short program of peace words and songs. As well, the winners of the 2018 Peace Symbol Contest will receive their prizes and a petition calling on the provincial government to include a Peace Studies program in the school curriculum will be launched.
SCHEDULE:
9:50 – 10 am – Ringing of Knox-Met Church bells for peace
10 am – Raising of the Peace Flag

A prayer for peace, by Peter Gilmer
A few words for peace, by Ed Lehman, Regina Peace Council & PeaceQuest Regina
Awarding of prizes to the winners of the 2018 Peace Symbol Contest

The Mayor will be invited to say a few words.
If any City Councillors are present, they will be invited to say a few words.
The launch of a petition calling for Peace Studies to be introduced into the school curriculum

A Regina launch of the petition will take place on September 21 at the peace flag raising ceremony. Saskatoon will be having its own petition launch on October 4.
