SATURDAY, SEPTEMBER 5, 11 am – 9 pm: ANTI-NUCLEAR POSTER EXHIBITION & FILM SCREENING, KNOX MET, 2340 VICTORIA AVENUE
To mark the 70th anniversary of the atomic bombings of Hiroshima and Nagasaki, PeaceQuest Regina is sponsoring a poster exhibition, Hibakusha Worldwide. The 50-poster exhibition is dedicated to the millions whose lives have been affected by the global nuclear industry.
11 am: Official opening of the exhibition
7 pm: Screening of Village of Widows, a film about uranium mining’s impacts on a Dene community near Port Radium, the mine that provided the uranium for the Hiroshima bomb
Anti-nuclear activists Bill Curry and Dale Dewar will be on hand to speak at the 11 am opening of the exhibition and at 7 pm just before the screening of Village of Widows.
